The traditional microbial characterization often involves separate experimentations under dozens of conditions, which can be time-consuming and error-prone. With the rapidly increasing throughput and the drastically declining cost of the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, genomics-based in silico characterization has become a viable alternative. However, each NGS experiment can generate gigabytes (GBs) or even terabytes (TBs) of raw data. This has far surpassed the data analysis capability of typical biologists or clinicians.

Here at ATCC-CTM, to facilitate internal biological resource acquisition and support product development, as well as to develop a general-purpose “biological material to actionable information” platform for the industry, we are developing the Advanced Microbial Genomics Platform (AMGP), to achieve the functionality of rapid and cost-effective microbial genomic NGS data analysis, while offering user-friendly interfaces and a robust performance.
